Our most complete experience, for travellers who want to live the Chapada Diamantina in all its diversity. It brings together the great viewpoints, the caves with their blue waters, the rivers of the Sincorá range and the Marimbus wetlands in one immersive, well-paced itinerary.

Day-by-day itinerary

1. 1

   Day 1 — Half-day tour – Parque Muritiba

   This tour can be done around midday. Beyond the swimming and the natural whirlpools, the great attraction here is the rock formation known as the Conglomerates.

   After Serrano, home to the natural pools and a series of whirlpool baths, the route continues to the Coloured Sands Hall, where you can see sands in a range of different colours.

   The trail passes Poço Halley, another fine spot for a swim, before reaching Cachoeira da Primavera. The final stop is the lookout, with a beautiful panoramic view over Lençóis. On the way back you pass Cachoeirinha.

   Day 2 — Full-day excursion – Marimbus itinerary

   The tour through the Chapada's miniature wetlands is known as Marimbus. Located in the hamlet of Remanso, in Lençóis, the boat journey across the waters of the Marimbus can last up to two hours.

   Along banks rich in wildlife and plant life, visitors can get very close to aquatic plants and enjoy the birdsong all around.

   The itinerary ends at the Rio Roncador for a swim in the natural pools. There is the option of lunch with typical regional food at the farm where the river runs.

   Day 3 — Classic full-day excursion – Caves itinerary

   Our adventure begins by car, leaving Lençóis for the municipality of Iraquara, known as the town of caves. The visit takes place at Gruta da Lapa Doce, the second-largest limestone cave in Brazil.

   The crossing of the cave, a 900-metre route, takes in impressive limestone formations (stalactites and stalagmites). After the cave crossing, lunch is served at a local restaurant (open buffet) with typical regional dishes. After lunch, driving on to Fazenda Pratinha, you can enjoy a wonderful swim in crystal-clear water.

   There is also the option of a 30-minute float through Gruta da Pratinha (optional service, paid separately) and a swim in a lake of astonishing blue inside the cave. The itinerary ends at one of the region's icons, Morro do Pai Inácio.

   It is the most popular attraction and the symbol of the Chapada Diamantina. The panoramic view from the top of the hill is incredible, quite breathtaking. To finish, we watch a spectacular sunset.

4. 4

   Day 4 — Rest day

   Today you can relax, enjoy the guesthouse's beautiful tropical garden or take a refreshing dip in the region's natural pools.

   Pousada Vila Serrano also offers various types of massage and regular yoga classes. We are sure you will have a wonderful day of rest :-)

   Day 5 — Cachoeira da Fumaça trek

   With over 300 metres of free fall, Cachoeira da Fumaça sits in Vale do Capão and is one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Brazil. Getting there means covering 6 km of trail. The view over the waterfall's canyon is astonishing.

   That is why we say the tour is worth it even when the waterfall has no water, which happens in the driest months of the year. And to round off the day, a swim with natural whirlpools at Cachoeira do Riachinho, still within the Vale do Capão.

   Level 2-3: Moderate.

6. 6

   Day 6 — Cachoeira do Mosquito with rock paintings, or Poço Azul

   The itinerary sets off by car along the Estrada do Café for 60 km to Fazenda Santo Antônio. The view from above the waterfall can be reached by car. This lookout is wheelchair accessible, so visitors using a chair can admire the waterfall.

   Next we take a steep 3 km trail leading down to the canyon and to Cachoeira do Mosquito, with its 60-metre drop. On the way back, a generous lunch is prepared at the farm with typical Chapada delicacies. The itinerary continues to the Serra das Paridas Archaeological Complex to watch the sunset and visit the rock paintings.

   Please note: this itinerary may run with the Serra das Paridas Archaeological Complex replaced by Poço Azul.

   Level 1-2: Easy-Moderate tour.

   Important notes:

   Caves: abseiling or the zip line may be available at Pratinha, depending on the weather. Not included in the package price!

   Fumaça day tour: Cachoeira do Riachinho is only visited in good weather conditions. The bad-weather alternative is a visit to the centre of the Vale do Capão village.

   Canoe trip: apply plenty of high-factor sunscreen.

   Cachoeira do Mosquito: if you choose to visit the "Poço Azul" option on the same day, we simply continue our journey by car – no additional costs apply and the package price stays the same.
